Biography

JC Lalnunsanga is a distinguished lawyer having over 16+ years of experience. He has cleared examination of  Advocate-on-Record (AOR) conducted by the Supreme Court of India and is the first from the state of Mizoram. Only AOR can file and appear before the Supreme Court as per Supreme Court Rules.  As per Rule 1(b) of Order IV of the Supreme Court Rules 2013,no Advocate other than the Advocate-on-Record for a party can appear, plead and address the Court in a matter unless he is instructed by the Advocate-on-Record or permitted by the Court. 

JC Lalnunsanga graduated from Mysore University in 2008 with a degree in B.A.L., LL.B. While working at a corporate firm in Mumbai, he completed his LL.M. in Business Law in 2010. He established his own firm and started practicing in Mizoram actively from 2010.He has trained many junior advocates and some of them have become reputed advocates of the state having independent practice. In 2020, he relocated to Delhi with his family to continue practicing before the Supreme Court while also appearing before the Aizawl Bench and Principal Bench of Gauhati High court. 

Over the years, he has handled several high-profile cases within and outside Mizoram, including the case concerning the unlawful eviction of Burmese nationals from Saikhumphai. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking the establishment of an RT-PCR testing laboratory for the southern region of Mizoram. He had served as Standing Counsel for the Social Welfare Department, Education Department, SSA/RMSA, and also as Special Public Prosecutor for the Mizoram Lokayukta. He has vast experience in Arbitration and consumer disputes. 

At present, JC Lalnunsanga continues to represent clients before various courts, including the Supreme Court, Arbitral Tribunals, National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC). He is presently serving as Standing Counsel for the Mizoram Public Service Commission (MPSC), Election Commission of India, Tourism Department/Mizoram Tourism Development Authority(MTDA) and Mizoram Board of School education(MBSE).
